About

UnrAVEL this Ltd. was formed in 2012 by Jim Boyd and is located in Scotland.

Prior to this Jim had enjoyed a career in electronics, software test & development and laterally computer manufacturing & test. He has been fortunate to visit and work in over ten countries across three continents.

Like many a business, Jim had not actually planned to be doing this. In all his working roles, Jim had been extremely keen to ‘get on with the job’, but found that issues and problems appeared inconveniently and annoyingly just kept… getting in the way. It was during his travels, often dealing with global supply chain and customer escalations, that Jim realised these ‘inconvenient’ issues were a fact of life… everywhere. Given his apparent skill (not his words – those of his colleagues) in solving or ‘troubleshooting’ most of these issues, Jim finally had his ‘Aha!’ moment – and the rest, as they say, is history.

Jim now specialises in helping businesses and organisations in the private, public and non-profit sectors, to UnrAVEL their issues, to establish the true root-cause (the Why?) and to discover how these learnings can add real and lasting VALUE.

His primary skill lies in applying an appropriate blend of Continuous Improvement techniques to help organisations make their work… easier. This can support both longer-term transformative change and shorter-term issue resolution for both seemingly simple and complex issues, across a wide range of both technical and business disciplines, both now and in the future.

Jim is a degree qualified Chartered Engineer (CEng) and is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET). Trained as an ISO9001 Lead Auditor and Six Sigma Green Belt, Jim is also certified in Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving and Decision Making.

If you and your organisation are considering transformative change or have an unexplained product, service or process issue that needs analysed, UnrAVELled and resolved we would be delighted to help.
